Allow me to begin by saying that In my opinion that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from dealing with a program. My family was not aware of the Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the right choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.

Finding the root cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, when the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like a lot of addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed after that until I was doing my drug of choice daily at the cost of everything and everyone around me. I lost precious time with my oldest daughter and several years of a meaningful relationship with my family. During your addiction you don’t genuinely have friends, you might have your partying buddies so when a crisis pops up in your own life they may be no where available. Real friends walk with you through everything. My addiction included alcohol in addition to drugs and I drank almost everyday. As soon as I made the choice to avoid the addiction cycle within my life, it became one step at the same time and it also was hard.

After I began emerging from my addictive lifestyle what I present in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships and no real idea what I would do along with the rest of my well being. I truly began one step at the same time then one day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process is when I chose to enable God directly into assist me to. It took several years but healing came, direction for my life came and my marriage flourished. I completed Senior High School, graduated from College and have started my own, personal business, which now features a business which allows me to work from home via a blogging service.

Addiction Recovery Is Possible. When the root cause of any addiction is identified and worked through then your primary reason for the addiction is no longer one factor. For many who remain addicts in their lives it is because they have got not identified their real cause, are certainly not willing to get through their issues and allow healing to take place. Many wish to remain a victim with their circumstance, not realizing what the future would hold to them when they would let go of their victim mentality. Creating a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing took place.

My wish for drugs and alcohol is totally gone. Through creating a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and that i discovered a sense of purpose for my well being. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has turned into a company owner). My path to recovery might have taken a significantly different route when we had known concerning the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just to the addicts but to there families as well.

First being a Development Director and then as a Program Director. While this is a great program there was some additional steps that I desired to offer those seeking help, so my partner and i also opened our very own recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived around for about annually and we worked with them in depth, it absolutely was probably the most rewarding experience I have ever endured in my life.

We closed this system because we knew the time had come to go in a different direction with this lives, but we are always contacting those looking for help themselves or a member of family looking for help for just one which they love. I am getting ready to start doing a bit of volunteer work with a program in our area. Trying to help addicts overcome their addiction is extremely rewarding work in fact it is a thing that I am going to be part of for the remainder of my well being in one way or another.
